Adipurush is a multilingual (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada) movie which is based on the ancient epic Ramayana starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan in lead roles.
Story Plot
The story delves into the Yuddha Kanda, an important chapter in the epic Ramayana. Lord Rama, also known as Raghava (played by Prabhas), is exiled to the forest along with his brother Lakshmana, also known as Sheshu (portrayed by Sunny Singh), and his wife Sita, also known as Janaki (played by Kriti Sanon). One day, Sita is abducted by Ravana, also known as Lankesh (played by Saif Ali Khan). In order to rescue Sita, Rama seeks the help of Hanuman, also known as Bajrang (portrayed by Devdatte Naga). The quest to bring back Sita becomes the central focus of the story.
Short Review
First of all, kudos to the Adipurush team for their bold attempt of spending 500 crores for a movie that is already familiar to most of the Indians. Given that the story is well-known, it must have been a challenging task for Om Raut to keep the audience engaged throughout the film. Does it meet expectations? I would have to say no. The first half of the movie is well-executed, but the second half loses its momentum and feels bland.
The action sequences of this movie is a major positive along with its music which enhances the scenes in many areas. But, as afraid, the VFX has been very poor especially for a movie with 500 Crore budget. I would say that the movie experience is spoiled by VFX especially in the climax. The casting is commendable as each character being portrayed exceptionally well. Every actor delivers their best performances. However, Prabhas facial expressions may not satisfy everyone. Additionally, since the movie is made in Hindi and dubbed in other languages, lip-sync issues are noticeable in several areas.
Despite its many negatives, Adipurush is still worth experiencing in theaters.
